Know the signs
Per Mayo Clinic, these are the changes worth paying attention to:
- A lump or thickened area that feels different from the tissue around it
- A nipple that turns inward or looks flattened
- Changes in breast size, shape, or skin color
- Dimpling, puckering, or skin that looks like an orange peel
- Peeling, scaling, or flaking skin on the breast or nipple
- Any unusual nipple discharge
Cancerous lumps often feel firm, irregular, and fixed in place — but feel alone can't confirm anything. Any new or unusual change is worth a call to your doctor.
